Hypnotherapy cost in Perth: what the market charges

Search hypnotherapy cost in Perth and most clinics hand you their own price list and leave you to work out whether it is reasonable. Some publish nothing at all. So before our own fees, here is what the Perth market actually looks like, based on prices published openly on Perth hypnotherapy clinic websites and checked in August 2026.

These are other clinics’ prices, not ours, and they change. Treat the table as a guide to the range rather than a live quote, and check any clinic’s own site before you book.

What is included in the price

The number on the invoice is not the only thing worth comparing. When you are looking at two clinics with different fees, these are the things that usually explain the gap.

How many sessions will I need?

The honest answer is that nobody can tell you before they have met you, and you should be cautious of anyone who does.

What we can do is talk it through on the free 15 minute call, give you a realistic sense of the range for what you are bringing to us, and tell you at the end of each session whether we think another one is warranted. If we do not think another session will add anything, we will say so.

Some things are commonly worked through in a single session. Others are better suited to a handful of sessions spaced a week or two apart. We do not sell packages and we will not commit you to a program. You book one session at a time. Individual results vary, and the number of sessions any one person finds useful varies with them.

Health fund rebates and Medicare

Some private health funds, including HBF, pay a benefit for hypnotherapy under some extras policies. Whether you can claim depends on your fund, your level of cover, your annual limits and waiting periods, and whether your practitioner is recognised by your fund. Please check directly with your fund before booking. There is no Medicare rebate for hypnotherapy.

We would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume a rebate is coming and find out afterwards that it is not. If you want to check, call your fund and ask two questions: does my extras cover include hypnotherapy, and is this practitioner a recognised provider.

What you are already spending

People often ask whether hypnotherapy is worth the money. That is a personal decision and we are not going to make it for you. What we can do is set out the arithmetic honestly, so you can put the fee next to a number that already exists in your life.

Every figure below is conditional. Each one assumes ordinary Australian retail prices, and each is sourced so you can check it yourself.

Those numbers are context, not an argument. Whether a session is worth it to you is your call, and there are free options worth knowing about either way. Quitline is on 13 7848. The WA Alcohol and Drug Support Line is on (08) 9442 5000. Cancer Council WA runs a savings calculator that will work out your own figure rather than an average, and our quit smoking and vaping guide costs nothing to read. All of it is free.

If you want to know what the sessions themselves involve, our stop smoking and vaping and alcohol pages explain the approach.

If youRoughly what that costsWhat the figure assumesSource
Smoke a packet of 20 a day About $300 a week, or $15,700 a year Buying legal product at around $43 a packet. Around a third of Australians who smoke report buying illicit tobacco and pay less ATO excise rate, 3 March 2026, and Cancer Council Victoria, September 2025
Vape More than $1,000 a year Spending $20 a week. There is no published average price for a therapeutic vape in Australia, so we are not going to invent one Department of Health, Give Up For Good
Drink a bottle of wine every second day About $1,800 to $2,900 a year Depending on what you buy, at retail prices checked August 2026 Dan Murphy's, August 2026
Drink a six pack twice a week About $2,300 to $2,500 a year At retail prices checked August 2026 Dan Murphy's, August 2026
Gamble $896 a year An average across all WA adults, including the many who never gamble, so it is not what any one person loses. WA is the lowest of any state because there are no gaming machines outside Crown Perth Australian Gambling Statistics, 40th edition, 2023 to 2024
Book a session with us $267, or $375 for stop smoking One session. We do not sell packages and we will not commit you to a program Current as at August 2026

If you smoke

Excise duty on cigarettes is currently $1.52829 per cigarette, which is $30.57 in duty on a packet of 20 before GST and before the retailer’s margin, according to the Australian Taxation Office rate effective 3 March 2026. The most recent published retail observation, from Cancer Council Victoria in September 2025, put a discount brand at $42.99 a packet.

Someone buying a legal packet of 20 a day at around $43 a packet spends roughly $300 a week, or about $15,700 across a year. If you buy less often, or you buy a different brand, your number is different. Cancer Council WA runs a savings calculator that will work it out on your own figures, and our quit smoking and vaping guide costs nothing to read. If you want to know what our stop smoking sessions involve, that page explains the approach.

If you gamble

Australians lost about $32.2 billion on legal gambling in 2023 to 2024, according to Australian Gambling Statistics. Averaged across all adults that is $1,521 nationally, and $896 in Western Australia, which is the lowest of any state or territory because WA has no gaming machines outside Crown Perth (Australian Gambling Statistics, 40th edition). That is an average across everybody, including people who never gamble, so it is not what any individual loses.

We are setting these numbers out because they are useful context, not as an argument. Whether a session is worth it to you is your call, and there are free options worth knowing about either way. Quitline is on 13 7848. The WA Alcohol and Drug Support Line is on (08) 9442 5000. Both cost nothing.

If you vape

There is no published average price for a therapeutic vape in Australia, so we are not going to invent one. The Australian Government notes on its Give Up For Good site that someone spending $20 a week on vaping could save more than $1,000 a year by stopping.

If you drink

At Dan Murphy’s prices checked in August 2026, a bottle of wine every second day works out at roughly $1,800 to $2,900 across a year depending on what you buy. A six pack twice a week is roughly $2,300 to $2,500. Our alcohol sessions page covers what that work involves.

Why the cheapest option is not automatically the right one

Hypnotherapy cost in Perth varies by a factor of four for what looks like the same thing, and the reasons are not always visible from a price list.

Some clinics sell packages of six or eight appointments up front, which lowers the per session figure but raises what you commit to on day one. Some quote a session price that does not include the longer first appointment. Some include follow up support in the fee and some charge for it separately.

The questions worth asking any clinic, including us, are these. What is the total I will pay. What happens if I need another appointment. Who will I actually be seeing. What are your qualifications and which body are you accredited with. And what will you tell me if hypnotherapy turns out not to be the right fit.

What we do not do

We think this belongs on a pricing page as much as anything else does.

We do not guarantee outcomes, and we do not publish success rates, because a success rate we cannot substantiate is not worth anything to you. Hypnotherapy is not a registered health profession in Australia and we are not doctors or psychologists. We work alongside medical care, never instead of it, and we will ask you to keep your GP in the loop.

If what you are dealing with needs a different kind of help, we will tell you that at the free call rather than after you have paid. Some things are outside what hypnotherapy is suited to. If you have not already, speak to your GP about what you are dealing with, and keep them informed about any support you take up.

Frequently asked questions

How much does hypnotherapy cost in Perth?

Across Perth clinics publishing their prices in August 2026, a first session ranges from about $200 to $395 and follow up sessions from about $150 to $295. A single stop smoking session ranges from about $375 to $550, and multi session packages from about $600 to $1,500. At Perth Hypnosis Clinic a standard session is $267 and a stop smoking session is $375.

How much does hypnotherapy cost per session?

Our standard session is $267 and our children’s session is $245. Both figures are the total for the session, including GST, with no separate booking or intake fee. Stop smoking is charged as a single session at $375.

How much does stop smoking hypnotherapy cost?

Perth clinics charge between about $375 and $550 for a single stop smoking session. Some sell it as a multi session package instead, which runs to about $799. Ours is $375 for a single session. Quitline also offers free support on 13 7848, and our article on five tips to quit smoking and vaping is free to read.

Is hypnotherapy covered by Medicare?

No. There is no Medicare rebate for hypnotherapy in Australia, and there is no Medicare item number for a hypnotherapy session. If you have a mental health care plan from your GP, that plan covers services delivered by practitioners registered under it, which is a separate arrangement to booking with us. Ask your GP if you are unsure what your plan covers.

Is hypnotherapy covered by private health insurance?

Sometimes. Some private health funds, including HBF, pay a benefit for hypnotherapy under some extras policies. It depends on your fund, your level of cover, your annual limits and waiting periods, and whether your practitioner is recognised by your fund. Check with your fund before booking.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The fee quoted is the total for the session and includes GST and the assessment time at the start. If you decide to book another session, that is quoted at the same published rate.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. We offer a free 15 minute call so you can ask questions and we can tell you honestly whether hypnotherapy suits your situation. There is no cost and no obligation to book afterwards.

How long is a hypnotherapy session?

Our sessions run 60 to 90 minutes, including the assessment time at the start. Some run longer where there is more to work through in a single sitting. We will tell you the expected length when you book.

What should I ask before booking a hypnotherapist?

Ask what the total cost will be, what happens if you need another session, who you will actually be seeing, what their qualifications are and which body they are accredited with. Be cautious of any clinic quoting a success rate it cannot substantiate, or guaranteeing an outcome.

Talk it through before you book

If you have read this far, the next step costs nothing. Book a free 15 minute call and we will tell you what we would suggest for your situation, roughly how many sessions that usually involves, and whether hypnotherapy is the right thing at all. If it is not, we will say so and point you somewhere more useful.
