No one feels well all of the time, and when we are not well, we display signs that something is not right. For instance if we have a runny nose, sneeze and cough, there is a good chance we may have a cold or flu.
In the same way in a psychological sense we also display symptoms, and these signs tell us that an idea that has been absorbed by the subconscious is in conflict with the conscious needs or wishes of the person. This is a very important guide that the person is not experiencing wellness and needs to do something to bring the subconscious back into agreement.
In the case of feeling flu-like symptoms, we will likely do something about it by seeing a doctor; we will be unlikely to take similar action in regard to psychological symptoms. We just make do and get over it.
The result of this is the condition gets worse, just the same as if nothing was done about our physical symptoms. As the condition gets worse it begins to affect the way we live, the choices we make, our relationships with others and so on. If it is left untreated, it is very likely that it will also begin to affect our physical well-being, although we are unaware that this is the cause.
It is a well-known fact that the health and state of the human body is affected by the state of the mind. The overall result is that our quality of life deteriorates.
